We originally started looking for a good set of hood pins, that we could supply to our customers for a reasonable cost. What we found was everyone either sells really cheap kits, that don't work, or they sell really expensive kits, but command a premium price.
The cheaper kits you see on the market have a flat, thin, metal plate for the top. It's barely more than a washer, it doesn't secure the grommet pin, they have a tendency to rattle loose, and they are noisy if not completely tight.
The more expensive kits are really nice with machined aluminum grommets. But we didn't think a machined piece of aluminum is necessary for a hood pin. These higher end kits look great, but you pay for the look, and not the function.
Our kits are designed with a counter sunk grommet that holds the pin scurely. The locking clip will actually hold itself shut, preventing the clip from falling out. The pin itself is a snug fit to the grommet, and has plenty of room for adjustment, and all four bolts come with nylock nuts to keep them from rattling loose. These are the pins you need, and a price that makes sense!
